Health Habits for the Future You

Matts Monday Musings

#2. Health Habits are for the future You.

In my youth (all those birthdays ago) from time to time, I had a few too many drinks on a Saturday night. It all seemed like a good idea at the time but there were consequences later. I asked myself why did I do it.

The same can be said for all your health. Why bother with health habits – answer, because it is what you do for the future you. Through the development of health habits and the addition of consistency (plus time) you are rewarding your future self. You are giving yourself a chance of greater health freedom in the future. How about starting a health habit today.

2. Health Habits are for the Future You.

Here we recognise that actions taken today will affect your health in the future. Additionally, that good health habits positively benefit the future you. Habits, in the context of this short message, refers to an action that is for the benefit of your health applied consistently.

Each work morning, I perform a 10 minute routine that prepares me for the physical nature of delivering Chiropractic adjustments. It helps me keep joints from being injured (which would be very costly), allows me to feel great, and also allows me to suggest to clients how beneficial a habitual routine is without being a hypocrite.

There is a wonderful approach for developing good habits through a “one degree change” method. This approach helps make positive changes in your health through easily adopted actions and increases the likelihood of maintaining the habit thereby utilising consistency which is a powerful ally for wellness. Here’s some examples:

  1. every morning start the day with a glass of water that has a pinch of sea salt and squeeze of lemon.
  2. if you listen to the radio in the morning switch it to easy listening music – media sells through bad news which is a terrible way to start a day AND if there is anything which you absolutely have to know, someone will tell you.
  3. here’s is a very powerful habit that increases you chances of being a millionaire (so I’ve been told) – make your bed in the morning.

Don’t hesitate to ask me what my routine is and/or we can always design one for you.

Hi, I’m Matt,

Thanks for taking the time to read my musings and blog.

My hope is you will ponder the message and apply your thoughts to your health and wellbeing. You may change something, add something, or feel your on the right track already – that’s great.

The musings are a combination of my own education (up to Masters level), podcasts, inspirational books, and the many lessons my clients have taught me over the last 25 years. It is a privilege to help clients with their health and wellbeing and these musings are simply an extension of that.

I hope they act as a source to help you.
