Matts Monday Musings
#6. Sleep, your Rejuvenation Foundation
Activities, both physical and mental, produce by-products that are similar to the exhaust produced from your car engine. Sleep, more specifically deep sleep, is when the body cleans up the debris from the daily living. Now (Winter) is a great time establish consistent sleep patterns. Extract yourself away from the screen you are glued to and go to bed at the same time each night. Do this for 6 weeks (including weekends) and you will have significantly better sleep patterns and feel alert and energised – ie. amazing.
Darwins theory of evolution through a health perspective focuses on the connection of environment and the function of the organism. For humans existing in environments that are accelerating at a prolific speed the control of adaptation is taken out of our hands. Once upon a time there were no telegraph poles, now you need to crash into one to realise its been there all the time. Air quality, engineered foods, availability of calories, light pollution, and many other environmental consequences from an advancing (debatable) culture. How are you expected to adapt to these conditions which are out of your control.
I’m not sure you can fully however I am sure you can reduce a little to a lot if you take some well thought out actions. Make good choices for your diet and source clean trusted produce suppliers.
Hi, I’m Matt,
Thanks for taking the time to read my musings and blog.
My hope is you will ponder the message and apply your thoughts to your health and wellbeing. You may change something, add something, or feel your on the right track already – that’s great.
The musings are a combination of my own education (up to Masters level), podcasts, inspirational books, and the many lessons my clients have taught me over the last 25 years. It is a privilege to help clients with their health and wellbeing and these musings are simply an extension of that.
I hope they act as a source to help you.
