More about Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy (link What is BCST?)

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

I have called the Bay of Plenty home for over 30 years now aside from spells travelling and exploring the world.

Since 2010 I have worked as a community midwife, enjoying the privilege of walking alongside and supporting families as they brought their babies into the world.

My journey into Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy started when I observed the benefits BCST offered the mothers and babies I cared for.  Then I received my first treatment – and experienced profound and lasting results.  This sparked many years of training in CranioSacral modalities alongside my practice as a Midwife.

What is Biodynamic Cranio Sacral Therapy (BCST)?

Osteopath Dr William Sutherland developed an approach known as “the Cranial Concept” from his discoveries in the late 1800’s.  These original concepts have been refined and expanded and has become what is known as Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy today.

BCST is an advanced body/mind therapy that combines a Western scientific understanding of the body with mindfulness skills, a unique type of touch and an appreciation for the body’s ability to heal.  It is a highly skilled approach to listening to the body’s inherent health expressions.  The therapist respectfully follows and encourages the body’s forces of health to bring about adjustments and change from within using the body’s own resources – a gentle yet powerful process undertaken at the person’s own pace.

The BCST approach includes a developed model of working with trauma processes.  The therapists embodied touch and presence support a therapeutic relational field that generates a deep sense of safety and capacity to heal from within.  A BCST session is always a respectful, client led, and client paced process and approach.

What Makes BCST Unique?

  • BCST is gentle and non-invasive, with no force or manipulation used during the treatment
  • The therapy is client led, the treatment pace is set by you and the requirements of your body
  • BCST acknowledges the whole person and that emotional, mental, spiritual and physical health are all interconnected
  • The understanding of the body’s intelligence to heal and facilitate self-repair is central to the therapy
  • Clients report feeling deeply listened to on all levels
  • BCST is a progressive therapy that embraces the latest findings in medical science and the wisdom of traditional healing arts
  • Biodynamic touch is a powerful tool to stimulate the brain to make new connections
  • And most importantly, the focus of BCST is on health, expressions of health, and the body’s incredible ability to heal
