MMM – Your Health is Your Problem

Matts Monday Musings

#1. Your Health is Your Problem.

It’s simply absurd to think a pill, injection, supplement, or any other of the countless health products can do the heavy lifting to allow you to have your desired health level. Same goes for the health professional you may (or not) invest in. They, and the pills, supplements etc can help at the right time. Health is your problem and your solution. Don’t try and outsource the work required to be healthy. To enhance your health this week, simply do something or don’t eat something for the betterment of your health.

This message could read … your responsibility, however I thought “problem” illustrates that when pain or symptoms arise the solution to those symptoms is similar to fixing a problem. In this respect, health can be compared to fixing the problem that you now are aware of because of symptoms. Lets be clear, the appearance of symptoms is the end result of smaller (quieter) problems before the warning bell starts screaming its head off due to bigger problems.

OK, I’ll let you off if you have a major accident. But, it has to be a major one because a small strain or little slip should be easily accommodated by a healthy body or spine.

In most cases, soreness, headaches, low back pain etc usually present into my office after early warning signs have been ignored. Most (read 99%), of spinal complaints come about through a lack of maintaining health habits. Keeping your spine healthy involves; movement, prescribed exercises, reducing sugar consumption or staying hydrated – all of which the practitioner or tablet can’t do for you.

I’m sure you can see what I’m getting at here. There is plenty you can do to help yourself which is why I say “your health is your problem” and you can’t outsource the problem to anyone else. For example:

When my wife notices me limping a little she will ask “have you been stretching each morning like you normally do?” – “yes honey” and I prombtly get back to my stretching habits. She doesn’t say “have you booked an appointment with______________ (fill in the blank) or “have you taken your voltarin?”. She asks what can I do to help myself,. Why, because it’s my problem. And if that doesn’t work, then I will seek some help.

Hi, I’m Matt,

Thanks for taking the time to read my musings and blog.

My hope is you will ponder the message and apply your thoughts to your health and wellbeing. You may change something, add something, or feel your on the right track already – that’s great.

The musings are a combination of my own education (up to Masters level), podcasts, inspirational books, and the many lessons my clients have taught me over the last 25 years. It is a privilege to help clients with their health and wellbeing and these musings are simply an extension of that.

I hope they act as a source to help you.
